Some people know me as RM Alexander (if you read my romantic suspense books), and others as Melody Ash (if you've taken the adventure with Caitlin through time). But here, you'll simply know me as Robin - mom, wife, author, traveler, Disney nerd, animal and nature lover... it's all me.
My whole life, I've had two loves that have stuck with me, even when I tried to escape them: stories and travel. I was the nerdy girl who spent my summers piled down with library books and winning the library summer reading programs. I was the girl who snuck reading long after bedtime and stuffed the books under the bed so my parents wouldn't see them. And I was also the girl who unpacked all the suitcases whenever my family arrived at a hotel. I was never happy until everything was placed in the drawers - no matter how long we were staying. And don't laugh - I'd cry when every vacation came to an end.
Yep, to say I was passionate about travel at an early age is probably an understatement.
Fast forward a few years and lots of trial and error (lots!), and in the end, I never strayed too far from either of my passions. In my twenties, I grew my own travel agency and thought I found what I wanted to do with my life. But when I closed the business after my oldest was born (and the Great Recession took hold), I returned to my other passion of writing.
My first book was released in January of 2014 - a little romantic suspense called Matter of Choice under my first pen name, RM Alexander. Several titles later, I started another pen name (Melody Ash) for a historical fantasy fiction/time travel series that resulted in an eight-book series I'm still wrapping up. Then, in 2021, I decided to delve into Kindle Vella (think Netflix for the bookies) and now have six Vella titles. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE every bit of it. With twenty books behind me, it's definitely what I was meant to be doing... BBBUUUTTTT...
But I still miss talking travel with people. It kinda gets in your blood, if you know what I mean. And being a stay-at-home mom who homeschools my two girls, there definitely didn't seem like enough hours in the day to do both.
Enter ... yeah, you guessed it ... Covid. It's funny how an entire world shutting down and losing people makes you reevaluate things. But then, I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Plus, you know, time moving at the speed of light and kids growing up before you have the time to blink... well, you see where I'm going with this.
So fast forward another couple of years and that proverbial lightning bolt struck. Why not combine my two loves? And so here I am, ready to tell you my stories and share bookish adventures with you. Together, we'll explore everything from fun and unique bookstores to cool libraries to locations where some awesome reads take place to fun sightseeing and great foods and awesome hotels, all with my family in tow.
It's my hope you join us, find your perfect bookish journeys in familiar and unfamiliar places. Together, we can take those destination stories from our TBR list and move them to the finished list, and move on to the next destination. Let's build stories together.
