Every adventure starts somewhere, and for us, we're starting where we live - Fort Wayne, Indiana.
As a teen, I visited Fort Wayne with my family and we spent the day at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. Then, I loved how the zoo was laid out in distinctive areas for Africa, India, and Australia. It was different and just cool. At the time, I never imagined I'd be making the small big city home for my own family.
But we'll talk about the zoo more later.
Indiana has a reputation (and I know I've seen the meme on FB) for being the place that you drive through to get to somewhere else. While the rows of cornfields in this part of the state might have you thinking I'm crazy for even including this as a great bookish getaway, Fort Wayne is full of surprises.
With plenty of quiet parks to for some outdoorsy reading time, winding trails to run off some steam as you listen to your new fav audiobook, bookstores to explore, an awesome library where you can get lost for hours, and a whole lot more, you'll find the Fort is the perfect weekend getaway or a fun stopover if you're headed to another area destination.
To dig into this bookish stop, I'll be posting separate entries for reads, two interviews with local authors, awesome opportunities for relaxation and a little fun, and we can't forget those eats!
So come explore with us and find another great destination to build your own stories!
